Catching Bullets is a feature documentary in production about the gun violence epidemic in St. Louis, MO, in the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The film follows Darren Seals of Sankofa Unity Center, a former gang member shot 13 times, as he rebuilds a church in an impoverished neighborhood, hoping to open a mentoring center. It also features Dr. LJ Punch of the T and the BRIC, a trauma surgeon trying to reframe the community's understanding of the damage done by bullets and the ripple effects of violence.
Catching Bullets will chronicle different efforts to treat violence as a public health concern and endeavor to put a human face on the problem of community gun violence.
The video on this page, Student of the Game, is a short documentary connected to the feature.
